The content is mentioned in Official Dispatch 3819/BGDDT-GDTH 2023, guiding the implementation of primary education tasks for the 2023–2024 school year, issued by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
(1) Organizing teaching of Foreign Language subjects 1
- For grades 1 and 2: continue to implement the English elective program to ensure the requirements specified in the 2018 General Education Program for foreign languages other than English, such as German, Korean, Russian, Japanese, French, and Chinese, Programs have been issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. Based on the implementation conditions of the educational institution and the needs of students and parents, educational institutions proactively conduct optional teaching in grades 1 and 2 and select teaching materials according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- For grades 3 and 4: implement solutions to organize the teaching of compulsory Foreign Language 1; Choose one of the Foreign Language 1 subjects that is eligible for implementation (the list of textbooks has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training) in accordance with the organizational capabilities of educational institutions, the needs of students and their parents, ensuring continuity, and according to the requirements specified in the foreign language program and the guiding documents of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- For grade 5: continue to implement the Elective English Program according to the 2006 General Education Program or the English Pilot Program at the primary school level; French and other languages (if any) according to regulations; Strengthen the organization of teaching 4 periods/week for 5th grade students; Use textbooks and teaching materials according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Encourage educational institutions to implement voluntary socialization in foreign language teaching to increase study time; teach foreign languages through Math and Science topics; and teach some subjects in foreign languages. Strengthen the organization so that teachers and students can learn foreign languages through television, media, and other appropriate learning resources. Promote foreign language practice through activities such as reading stories, experiential activities, and activities to create a foreign language environment outside the classroom, playgrounds, and exchanges for students.
(2) Organizing teaching of informatics subjects
- Organize teaching compulsory Information Technology for 100% of grade 3 and 4 students according to the requirements specified in the 2018 General Education Program; implement solutions to organize teaching of informatics according to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- Organize and implement information technology education activities and digital citizenship skills education for students according to the guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training; Create opportunities for grade 1 and grade 2 students to access information technology education.
- Implement appropriate solutions to increase the number of schools, classes, and 5th grade students who can study elective informatics subjects according to the 2006 General Education Program. When implementing, there should be solutions to approach the Informatics Curriculum in the 2018 General Education Program in a flexible and appropriate manner. On the basis of streamlining the 2006 General Education Program for Informatics, it creates the best conditions for students to access and learn Informatics in grade 6.
