Introduction to the Food and Agricultural Crop Industry at the Secondary Technical Level and Minimum Knowledge Requirements

Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) prescribes the minimum volume of knowledge, and requirements on competencies that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine, which will take effect from February 10, 2019.

According to the regulation on minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the food crop cultivation industry, issued together with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the intermediate level of food crop cultivation is an industry that involves the technical work of planting and caring for food crops, fulfilling the requirements of level 4 in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

The primary tasks of this vocation include: planting, caring for, protecting, harvesting, processing, and preserving food crops in line with technical requirements, achieving quality productivity, and ensuring safety standards.

To practice this profession, workers must have good health, professional ethics, sufficient specialized knowledge, and vocational skills appropriate to their job position. Continuous learning is necessary to improve abilities, professional competence, and broaden social knowledge; practicing meticulousness, clarity, and detail; fostering professional consciousness and passion for the vocation.

Note that the minimum knowledge volume is 1700 hours (equivalent to 60 credits).

Additionally, the regulation specifies the minimum knowledge requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from the intermediate level in the food crop cultivation industry as follows:

- Present the technical requirements for planting certain food crop species;- Describe the technical steps for planting, caring for, managing, protecting, and developing certain food crops;- Present the procedures for using equipment, tools for planting, caring for, pest control, harvesting, and preliminary preservation of food crops;- Present methods for aggregating information, writing, and presenting reports;- Present some business-related knowledge concerning food crops;- Present basic knowledge about politics, culture, society, law, national defense and security, and physical education as prescribed.
