Gift Levels for Congratulating and Celebrating the Longevity of the Elderly

Accordingly, Circular 96 stipulates the gift levels for congratulating and celebrating the longevity of the elderly as follows:

- Elderly persons reaching the age of 100 are congratulated and gifted by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam with 5 meters of silk fabric and 700,000 VND in cash;- Elderly persons reaching the age of 90 are congratulated and gifted by the Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee or centrally-run municipal People's Committee with gifts worth 150,000 VND in kind and 500,000 VND in cash;

Note that the above-mentioned expenditure levels are the minimum. Based on the local budget balancing capabilities and actual circumstances, the Provincial People's Council or centrally-run municipal People's Council can consider and decide on higher expenditure levels than those stipulated in this Circular; they may also consider and decide on a gift level for elderly persons at the ages of 70, 75, 80, 85, 95, and over 100 based on the proposals of the Provincial People's Committee;

In addition, Circular 96 also stipulates that the funds for congratulating and gifting elderly persons reaching the age of 100 and 90 are to be arranged in the annual regular expenditure estimates of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (the standing agency of the Provincial Elderly Affairs Committee). The funds for gifting elderly persons at the ages of 70, 75, 80, 85, 95, and over 100 are to be arranged in the annual regular expenditure estimates of the agencies and units tasked with gifting the elderly according to local decentralization.
