General Introduction to the Saltwater and Brackish Water Aquaculture Industry, College Level

On February 10, 2019, Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (BLDTBXH) regulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and veterinary medicine, will take effect.

Under the Regulations on Minimum Knowledge Volume and Competency Requirements for Graduates at Intermediate and College Levels in the Marine and Brackish Water Aquaculture Sector, issued with Circular 52/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, marine and brackish water aquaculture at the college level is defined as an industry comprising the production of breeding stock, cultivation of aquatic species groups (fish, crustaceans, mollusks, algae) adapted to marine and brackish water environments, meeting Level 5 requirements in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.

Main tasks of the profession: Production of breeding stock for crustaceans, marine fish, and mollusks; production of aquatic feed; prevention and treatment of aquatic animal diseases; culturing marine shrimp, marine fish, seaweed, and mollusks; trading aquatic products, services.

Graduates are capable of taking on technical positions in aquatic feed production factories, breeding stock farms, cultivation areas, farms cultivating marine and brackish water aquatic species for agencies and enterprises in the aquatic sector, or of establishing and operating their own breeding stock farms and aquaculture systems for themselves and their families.

Note the minimum volume of knowledge required: 1800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).
