On November 11, 2018, the Ministry of National Defense issued Circular 162/2018/TT-BQP providing guidance on the implementation of special allowance policies for the Guard Force under the Ministry of National Defense.
According to Circular 162, depending on the rank of the officer or the type, group, and rank of the professional soldiers, the corresponding special allowance levels will vary. Specifically:
A 30% allowance applies to:
- Officers and professional soldiers tasked with guard duties: Close protection; protection of international guests visiting and working in Vietnam; patrolling, guarding at residences, workplaces, key areas, and particularly important events;- Officers holding leadership, command positions in the Guard Room and Guard Task Force;- Officers with the rank of Second Lieutenant or below, or professional soldiers with a salary equivalent to that of officers with the rank of Second Lieutenant or below.
A 25% allowance applies to:
- Officers and professional soldiers tasked with guard duties: Driving for close protection, operational driving, guiding, escorting; inspecting explosives, flammable substances, radioactive materials or other dangerous items, toxicity testing; combat operations; reconnaissance; information for protection work; special missions; mobilization;- Officers with the rank of Senior Lieutenant, Captain or professional soldiers with a salary equivalent to that of officers with the rank of Senior Lieutenant, Captain.
A 20% allowance applies to:
- Officers and professional soldiers directly serving the leaders of the Communist Party, the State, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front;- Officers with the rank of Major or above, or professional soldiers with a salary equivalent to that of officers with the rank of Major or above.
A 15% allowance applies to: Officers and professional soldiers who do not fall under the above-mentioned categories.
