On June 19, 2020, the Ministry of National Defense issued Circular 75/2020/TT-BQP stipulating the application of disciplinary forms, procedures, statutes of limitations, time limits, and authority for handling disciplinary actions against self-defense militia.

Article 10 of Circular 75/2020/TT-BQP stipulates the application of disciplinary forms, procedures, statute of limitations, timeframe, and authority for disciplining the Militia and Self-Defense Forces for acts of defying orders as follows:
- Failure to comply with orders or failure to perform duties assigned by the direct commander or the competent authority which do not amount to criminal liability shall be subjected to a warning or demotion.
- Defying orders in one of the following cases shall be subjected to dismissal or revocation of the Militia and Self-Defense Force title:
- Holding a commanding position;- Inciting others to participate;- During combat readiness or combat;- Having been disciplined without improvement and continuing to violate.
Additionally, Article 12 of Circular 75/2020/TT-BQP also stipulates the forms of disciplinary actions for acts of non-strict compliance with orders as follows:
- Incomplete or delayed compliance with the orders of the commander, affecting the unit's task completion shall be subjected to reprimand or warning.
- Non-strict compliance with orders in one of the following cases shall be subjected to demotion or dismissal:
- Having been disciplined without improvement and continuing to violate;- Inciting others to participate;- During combat readiness or combat.
