Recently, the Government issued Decree 55/2009/ND-CP on sanctioning of administrative violations of gender equality in Vietnam.
Fine of up to VND 5,000,000 for acts of disallowing men or women to participate in scientific and technological activities for gender prejudice reasons in Vietnam (Internet image)
Decree 55/2009/ND-CP stipulates a fine of between VND 3,000,000 and 5,000,000 shall be imposed for using force to obstruct men or women in participating scientific or technological activities for gender prejudice reasons or disallowing men or women to participate in scientific and technological activities for gender prejudice reasons. At the same time, the penalties for administrative violation of gender equality in science and technology in Vietnam are prescribed as follows:
- Caution shall be served or a fine of between VND 200,000 and 500,000 shall be imposed for hurting the honor or dignity of men or women to obstruct them in participating in scientific and technological activities for gender prejudice reasons.
- A fine of between VND 100,000 and 3,000,000 shall be imposed for either of the following acts:
- A fine of between VND 20,000,000 and 40.000,000 shall be imposed for refusing to admit persons of one certain gender to training courses or scientific or technological activities for gender prejudice reasons.
More details can be found in Decree 55/2009/ND-CP which comes into force from August 1, 2009.
