The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Circular 24/2015/TT-BCT, stipulating working hours and rest periods for employees engaged in special nature tasks in the field of offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction.
Employees who work regularly on shifts and in shifts in the field of offshore oil and gas exploration and extraction must comply with the specific working hours stipulated in Article 4 of Circular 24/2015/TT-BCT as follows:

- Maximum shift duration: 12 hours;
- Maximum work period: 28 days.
The employer is responsible for specifying the working shifts and periods at the offshore oil facility in the Labor Code and informing the employees before they start work.
Furthermore, after each sea shift, employees are entitled to a minimum continuous rest period of 10 hours before starting a new shift. The employer is responsible for arranging break times during shifts, counted within working hours, where the total break time during the shift is a minimum of 60 minutes.
Besides the shift break time, after each working period, regularly working employees are entitled to continuous rest days equal to the number of working days in the previous period. Irregularly working employees are given rest days suitable to the work situation, but no less than 5 continuous days.
Employees are entitled to annual leave in addition to the break time during the work period, in accordance with labor laws. If it is not possible to arrange annual leave for the employees, the employer will agree with the employees on taking annual leave during the break time between work periods.
