Ensuring Safety in Microbiological Laboratories

The content is stipulated in Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT issued by the Ministry of Health on September 19, 2016, regulating the organization and activities of microbiological testing.

Accordingly, the requirements for ensuring safety in microbiological laboratories are stipulated in Circular 33 as follows:

- Ensuring biosafety and biosecurity in accordance with regulations on biosafety in the laboratory.- Providing personal protective equipment for workers.- Training employees on the use and operation of safety equipment and devices.- Being cautious when handling potentially infectious biological products and strictly adhering to regulations on biosafety and hospital infection control.- Conducting periodic health checks for department staff as per regulations.- Staff are trained on laboratory incident handling: spills of biological samples, chemicals, biological products, reagents during transportation and also on enhancing knowledge and skills to prevent and initially handle emergencies such as alkali burns, acid burns, thermal burns, poisoning, electric shock, fire, and explosions.
