Regarding this matter, LawNet would like to answer as follows:
On April 10, 2024, the Minister of Education and Training issued Circular 06/2024/TT-BGDDT on the Regulations for the National Scientific and Technological Research Competition for lower and upper secondary school students.
According to Article 3 of the Regulations accompanying Circular 06/2024/TT-BGDDT, the competition includes the following:
- Competition contents
+ The competition contents is the result of implementing scientific and technological research projects by students (referred to as the competition project) in the fields specified in Appendix 1 accompanying the Regulations. The competition project can be carried out by one student (referred to as an individual project) or by two students from the same educational institution (referred to as a team project);
+ The report on the results of the competition project includes the following basic contents: research questions (for scientific projects) or research issues (for technical projects); design and research methods; data collection, analysis, and interpretation (for scientific projects); or fabrication and testing (for technical projects).
- Competition format
+ Each competition project submits a report on the results of the project and displays a poster on the implementation of the project in the competition area;
+ The author or group of authors presents a summary of the project results and answers questions from the judges in the poster display area.
Based on Article 4 of the Regulations accompanying Circular 06/2024/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for the competition project are as follows:
- Ensuring integrity in scientific research; no cheating, unauthorized copying, or falsification; not using or presenting the research content or results of others as one's own.
- The research period for the competition project must not exceed 12 consecutive months and must fall within the period from January of the year preceding the competition to 30 days before the opening of the competition.
- A team project is not allowed to change members once the project has started. The results of the project must reflect the contributions of each team member.
- Research projects on pathogens, hazardous chemicals, or substances that have a negative impact on the environment are not eligible to participate in the competition.
- The competition project must be approved and evaluated by the educational institution where the students are studying, and the participating unit must be selected according to the regulations in Article 12 of the Regulations.
- The competition project must meet the display requirements specified by the Competition Steering Committee.
