05 features of overhead lifting equipment at nuclear power plants in Vietnam

According to Article 62 of Circular No. 30/2012/TT-BKHCN of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, the items important to safety and other items in the proximity of the items important to safety shall be lifted and lowered by equipment. The design overhead lifting equipment shall:

- Prevent the lifting of excessive loads;

- Prevent unintentional dropping;

- Safely move itself and the items being lifted and lowered;

- Have safety interlocks;

- Provided with anti-earthquake design if they are used in the areas where items important to safety are located.

Moreover, according to Article 63 of Circular No. 30/2012/TT-BKHCN, steam supply system, water supply system and generators of nuclear power plants are prescribed as follows:

- The design of the steam supply system, water supply system and turbine generators shall ensure that the coolant pressure boundary is not exceeded in any situation.

- The steam supply system must have qualified steam isolation valves capable of closing in any situation.

- The design and capacity of the steam supply system and water supply system shall be able to prevent abnormal operation from escalating to accident conditions.

- Turbine generators must be designed to resist vibration and overspeed. Appropriate measures shall be taken for minimize the effects of turbine-generated missiles on items important to safety.
