Vietnam: May an architecture practicing certificate be renewed? Will an architecture practicing license be revoked if the requirements for renewal are not met?

1. May an architecture practicing certificate in Vietnam be renewed?

According to Clause 2, Article 28 of the Architecture Law 2019, the requirements for renewal of an architecture practicing certificate in Vietnam are regulated as follows::

a) Architecture practicing certificate has expired;

b) Ongoing career development is guaranteed;

c) There is none of violations against rules of professional conduct for practicing architects.

Thus, when your architecture practicing license has expired, you must meet all the legal requirements stated above to have your license renewed.

2. Will an architecture practicing license in Vietnam be revoked if the requirements for renewal are not met?

According to Clause 1, Article 30 of the Architecture Law 2019, an architecture practicing license in Vietnam will be revoked in the following cases:

 

a) The holder has no longer been qualified for issuance and renewal of architecture practicing certificates as provided in Article 28 herein;

b) Application documentation for issuance, reissuance and renewal of architecture practicing certificate is forged;

c) There is none of serious violations against rules of professional conduct for practicing architects;

d) Professional and technical faults arising from rendering of architectural services has led to severe consequences according to conclusions of competent regulatory authorities;

dd) The affected holder is prohibited from practicing or performing activities related to architecture according to the Court’s legitimate judgment or decision.

Therefore, if you no longer meet the requirements for renewal of architecture practicing license, it will be revoked. If you still want to pursue the profession, you must ensure you meet all the requirements for renewal of architecture practicing license to avoid revocation.
