Title: Is the Registration of a Missing Fishing Vessel Revoked?
Article 72 of the Fisheries Law 2017 stipulates the cases in which the registration of a fishing vessel can be canceled, including:
- The fishing vessel is destroyed, dismantled, or sunken and cannot be salvaged;
- The fishing vessel is missing for 1 year from the date of official announcement in the mass media;
- The fishing vessel is exported, sold, donated, or aided;
- As per the request of the vessel owner.
Accordingly, a fishing vessel that is missing for 1 year from the date of the official announcement in the mass media will have its registration canceled.
Thus, in your case, it must be specifically determined the period the vessel has been missing for 1 year from what specific time. If missing for 1 year from the date of the official announcement in the mass media, the registration will be canceled.
Note: Upon canceling the registration, the competent authority will revoke the Fishing Vessel Registration Certificate, remove the vessel’s name from the national fishing vessel registry, and issue a Fishing Vessel Registration Cancellation Certificate to the vessel owner.
Sincerely!
