Refusal to Collect Unsorted Waste Effective from January 01, 2022
Section 2, Article 77 of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 (Effective from January 1, 2022) stipulates the collection and transportation of domestic solid waste as follows:
The facility collecting and transporting domestic solid waste has the right to refuse to collect and transport domestic solid waste from households or individuals who do not segregate the waste, do not use conformable packaging, and notify the competent authorities to inspect and handle in accordance with the law, except for cases where households or individuals use packaging for other domestic solid waste as stipulated at Point c, Section 1, Article 75 of this Law.
Based on the aforementioned regulation, the waste collection entity has the right to refuse to collect waste if residents do not sort their waste as required. This provision has been applied since January 1, 2022. This is also a notable regulation of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 compared to the current Law on Environmental Protection 2014.
Sincerely!
