Positioning of Automated and Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations: Regulations and Provisions
Location for Installing Automatic, Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations as Defined in Clause 2, Article 30 of Circular 10/2021/TT-BTNMT. To be specific:
Station Location:
The station must be located in an airy place where meteorological parameters can be measured without any obstruction, meeting the monitoring objectives and representing the environmental quality of the monitoring area. The location should be selected based on the monitoring objectives and technical requirements of each type of station. To be specific:
- Background Station: Located in areas minimally influenced by emission sources.
- Composite Station: Placed in areas affected by multiple sources (urban, residential, transportation, construction, industry, etc.).
- Residential Station: Located in typical residential areas, not near major roads with heavy traffic.
- Roadside Station (Traffic): Positioned along straight road sections, avoiding intersections and traffic nodes; placed on highways or national roads with the heaviest traffic in the area.
- Industrial Station: Located in the nearest residential area in the prevailing wind direction relative to the industrial zone and major emission sources. For sources with tall chimneys, it may be necessary to use an air pollution dispersion model to determine the areas with the highest pollution levels to locate the station accordingly.
Sincerely.
