Obligations of Tourists Visiting Tourism Sites in Environmental Protection
What are the obligations of tourists in environmental protection when visiting tourism sites? And what are the obligations of tour guides when there are tourists visiting?Obligations of visitors to tourist destinations regarding environmental protection?
According to Clause 2, Article 66 of the Environmental Protection Law 2020 (effective January 1, 2022), individuals visiting heritage sites, tourist spots, tourist areas, tourist spots, tourist accommodation establishments, training, performance, and sports competition venues, and festival locations must comply with the following obligations:
- Adhere to regulations and rules for maintaining hygiene and protecting the environment;
- Dispose of waste in designated places; minimize plastic waste generation;
- Maintain public hygiene;
- Do not damage the environmental landscape and local wildlife.
What are the obligations of tour guides when guiding visitors?
Based on Clause 2, Article 65 of the Tourism Law 2017, the obligations of tour guides are as follows:
- Guide tourists according to assigned tasks or guiding contracts;
- Comply with and guide tourists to comply with Vietnamese law, the law of the tourist destination, and the rules of the places being visited; respect local customs and practices;
- Inform tourists about the travel program, services, and their legitimate rights and interests;
- Guide tourists according to the correct travel program, behaving in a civilized, enthusiastic, and considerate manner; report to the person in charge of travel services about any changes to the travel program at the tourist's request;
- Be responsible for ensuring the safety of the tourists' lives, health, and property;
- Participate in knowledge update courses as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 62 of this Law;
- Wear a tour guide badge while practicing guiding;
- International and domestic tour guides must carry assignment documents from the travel service provider and the travel program in Vietnamese while practicing. In the case of guiding international tourists, tour guides must carry the travel program in both Vietnamese and a foreign language.
