Is it Permissible to Keep a Sulcata Tortoise at Home?
According to the List of endangered, precious, and rare forest plants and animals issued together with Decree 06/2019/ND-CP, the following animal species are classified as precious and rare:
- Southern Batagur turtle;
- Bourret's box turtle (Northern yellow-headed box turtle);
- Vietnamese box turtle (Southern yellow-headed box turtle);
- Central Vietnamese turtle;
- Big-headed turtle;
- Three-striped box turtle, Golden turtle;
- Yellow-headed box turtle (Central yellow-headed box turtle);
- Black-backed box turtle;
- Sa Nam turtle;
- Pulkin land turtle;
- Asian land turtle;
- Sepon land turtle;
- Spengleri land turtle;
- Toothed turtle;
- Large land turtle;
- Three-keeled turtle;
- Four-eyed turtle;
- Mute turtle;
- Big-necked turtle;
- Red-neck pond turtle;
- Golden mountain turtle;
- Rim mountain turtle.
Therefore, the sulcata tortoise is not classified as a precious and rare species, so you are allowed to keep a sulcata tortoise at home.
