International Collaboration Tasks in Meteorological and Hydrological Services: An Overview
What are the tasks of international cooperation on meteorology and hydrology?
In Subsection 5, Section 2 of the Plan to Implement the Development Strategy of the Meteorology and Hydrology Sector by 2030, with a vision to 2045, issued together with Decision 1083/QD-BTNMT in 2022, there are regulations on the tasks of international cooperation on meteorology and hydrology as follows:
5. International Cooperation on Meteorology and Hydrology
Enhance cooperation with nations, territories, and international organizations, especially in forecasting, warning, information sharing, data sharing, and fulfilling international commitments on meteorology and hydrology; improve the capacity of Vietnam's Meteorology and Hydrology Sector.
Develop a plan for sending experts and representatives of Vietnam to participate in the executive bodies and forums of the World Meteorological Organization and other international organizations related to meteorology and hydrology.
How is the implementation work of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in the Development Strategy of the Meteorology and Hydrology Sector by 2030?
According to Subsection 1, Section III of the Plan to Implement the Development Strategy of the Meteorology and Hydrology Sector by 2030, with a vision to 2045, issued together with Decision 1083/QD-BTNMT in 2022, there are regulations on the implementation work of the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in the Development Strategy of the Meteorology and Hydrology Sector by 2030 as follows:
1. General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology
a) Perform the task of being the focal advisory point, assisting the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment to preside, cooperate with ministries and central authorities, and relevant localities to organize the implementation of the Plan; receive feedback from agencies, units, and the public on the effectiveness and impact of meteorological and hydrological information and data on socio-economic development, disaster prevention, and climate change adaptation.
b) Advise the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to establish coordination mechanisms between ministries, sectors, and localities during the implementation of the state management function and tasks related to meteorology and hydrology; take the lead in organizing communication, inspection, and urging the implementation of the Plan.
c) Periodically summarize, report to the Minister on the implementation results, and propose necessary measures to ensure the synchronous and effective implementation of this Plan.
