How is the Responsibility for Preparing Environmental Status Reports Regulated?
According to Clause 2, Article 120 of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 (Effective from January 1, 2022), the responsibilities for preparing environmental status reports are prescribed as follows:
- The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment shall prepare an overview report on the national environmental status every 5 years to serve the assessment of the implementation results of the socio-economic development plan; annually, prepare a thematic report on the national environmental status;
- The provincial People's Committee shall prepare an overview report on the environmental status of the locality every 5 years; annually, prepare a thematic report on the environmental status according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment; based on the urgent environmental issues of the locality, the provincial People's Committee may decide to prepare additional thematic reports on the environmental status in the locality.
