Are Pregnant Female Radiation Workers Allowed to be Assigned Other Tasks?
Article 4 of Circular 19/2012/TT-BKHCN stipulates the use of labor in radiation work as follows:
- Persons under 18 years of age are not permitted to engage in radiation work. In the case of apprentices involved with radiation, students aged 16 to 18 years old using radiation sources during their studies are only allowed to work in controlled or supervised areas under the condition that they are guided by professional staff.
- Persons suffering from radioactivity-prohibited diseases as prescribed by the Ministry of Health are not permitted to engage in radiation work.
- Radiological staff who are certified by healthcare facilities as being unfit to continue working in radiation work must have their working conditions changed.
- Female radiation workers who are pregnant must inform the safety officer of their pregnancy. If they wish to temporarily change their working conditions, the head of the organization or individual conducting radiation work must arrange suitable alternatives.
Therefore, in case you are pregnant, you must inform the clinic safety officer about your pregnancy. Additionally, you should request the director of the polyclinic to be assigned other suitable work.
Sincerely!
