What are rights of students awarded national excellent student prizes in Vietnam?

Based on Article 35 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Examination issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, therights of students awarded national excellent student prizes in Vietnam are as follows:

- Students who win prizes in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination are granted Certificates of Achievement and are rewarded.

- Students who win prizes in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination and have graduated from high school are eligible for direct admission and priority consideration for university and college admission in accordance with the current Regulations on University and College Admissions in the field of Early Childhood Education.

- Twelfth-grade students participating in the Olympic team selection examination are exempt from the high school graduation examination.

- Students who are members of international and regional Olympic teams are directly admitted to universities according to current regulations and are given priority for undergraduate education abroad with state budget scholarships.

Who has the authority to issue Certificates of Achievement for candidates in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination in Vietnam?

Based on Article 34 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Examination issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, the regulation on issuance of Certificates of Achievement is as follows:

Issuance of Certificates of Achievement

1. Certificates of Achievement in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination

a) Certificates of Achievement for students winning prizes in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination for high school are issued to prize-winning candidates in the examination;

b) Certificates of Achievement for students participating in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination for high school are issued to candidates participating in the examination but not winning prizes;

c) Certificates of Achievement for students participating in the National High School Student Selection Examination for national teams competing in international and regional Olympiads are issued to candidates participating in the examination.

2. Based on the examination results, the Director of the Quality Management Department issues Certificates of Achievement to candidates. Certificates of Achievement are issued only once.

3. The Director of the Quality Management Department has the authority to revoke and cancel issued Certificates of Achievement if it is found that the recipient violated the examination regulations, or if the prize awarding and certificate issuance were not conformable.

As regulated above, the Director of the Quality Management Department is the person who issues Certificates of Achievement to candidates in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination.

Additionally, the Director of the Quality Management Department has the authority to revoke and cancel issued Certificates of Achievement if it is found that the recipient violated the examination regulations, or if the prize awarding and certificate issuance were not conformable.

What items are candidates prohibited from bringing into the examination room for the National Excellent Student Selection Examination in Vietnam?

Based on Article 24 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Examination issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities of candidates are regulated as follows:

4. Only bring into the examination room materials and items prescribed in Article 23 of this Regulation. Prohibited items in the examination room include: carbon paper, correction pens, alcoholic beverages; weapons and explosive, flammable substances; materials, transmission devices, or information-carrying equipment that can be used to cheat during the examination and grading process.

Candidates are prohibited from bringing the following items into the examination room for the National Excellent Student Selection Examination:

- Carbon paper, correction pens, alcoholic beverages;

- Weapons and explosive, flammable substances;

- Materials, communication devices, or information storage containing items that can be used to cheat during the examination and grading process.

Additionally, candidates participating in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination are only allowed to bring the following items into the examination room:

- Writing pens, rulers, black pencils, erasers, set squares, protractors, drawing tools;

- Calculators without text editing functions and no memory cards; for the Mathematics examination, candidates are not allowed to bring calculators into the examination room.

What should candidates of the National Excellent Student Selection Examination in vietnam do when the exam time is over?

Based on Clause 9, Article 24 of the Regulation on the National Excellent Student Selection Examination issued together with Circular 17/2023/TT-BGDDT, when the exam time is over, candidates in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination must:

- For written exams: All candidates must stop writing immediately to submit their exam papers; clearly state the number of submitted answer sheets and sign the answer sheet receipt form (even if no answers were written);

- For the Informatics exam: All candidates must immediately turn off the computer screens. When allowed by the proctor, candidates can turn the computer screens back on and open the seal on the CD drive to record their solutions onto a CD; then, candidates observe the proctor printing their work from the CD onto paper; candidates sign both the CD and the printed answer sheets.

For computer-based tests with network/local network connections, candidates follow the testing organization guidelines;

- For the oral testing sessions of foreign language examinations in the National Excellent Student Selection Examination and practical examinations of Physics, Chemistry, Biology in the Olympiad team selection examination, candidates follow the testing organization guidelines.
