Based on Section V of the Appendix to the Curriculum of General Education, Vietnamese Literature subject issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for writing skills in the grade 5 Vietnamese Language subject are as follows:

Writing Process

- Know how to write following these steps: determine the purpose and content of writing (why and what to write); observe and gather materials to write; form main ideas, outline the essay; write paragraphs, essays; revise (structure, word usage, sentence structure, spelling).

- Write clear and coherent paragraphs and documents that clearly express the theme and main information; appropriate to the type and style; with an introduction, development, conclusion; linked sentences and paragraphs.

Writing Practice

- Write an essay retelling a story that has been read, heard with creative details.

- Write a descriptive essay about a person or landscape using comparisons, personifications, and evocative words to highlight the characteristics of the described object.

- Write a paragraph expressing personal feelings and emotions about an event or a poem, story.

- Write a paragraph stating reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with a phenomenon or event of significance in life.

- Write a paragraph introducing a character in a book or an animated movie watched (appearance, gestures, actions, language).

- Write a report on work, activity program, using tables and charts.

Thus, according to the regulations, grade 5 students must practice and know how to write descriptive essays about landscapes using comparisons, personifications, and evocative words to highlight the characteristics of the described object.

What are regulations on assessing primary school students' training and learning outcomes in Vietnam?

Based on Article 22 of the Primary School Charter issued together with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on assessing the training and learning outcomes of primary school students are as follows:

- The primary school organizes the evaluation of educational outcomes during the learning and training process of students according to the regulations on assessing primary school students issued by the Minister of Education and Training;

+ Organize for teachers to hand over the educational outcomes of students at the end of the school year to the teachers of the next grade in the following school year;

+ Implement according to the instructions of the Head of the Department of Education and Training on the organization of acceptance, handover of educational outcomes of students who have completed the primary school program to move to grade 6 in accordance with the conditions of the schools and localities.

- Students who have completed the primary curriculum and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will have their completion of the primary curriculum certified in their school records by the primary school principal.

- For other educational institutions implementing the general education program at the primary level, students who have completed the primary curriculum and meet the requirements set by the Minister of Education and Training will have their completion of the primary curriculum certified in their school records by the head of the educational institution as per regulations.

For students who are unable to attend school due to difficult circumstances, studying at other institutions in the area, or students returning from abroad, the primary school principal will evaluate according to regulations and certify the completion of the primary curriculum if the student meets the requirements.

- Apply information technology in assessing the training and learning outcomes of students according to a schedule appropriate to the actual conditions of the educational institution.
