According to the regulations in Subsection 5, Section A, Part 8 of the Regulations on minimum knowledge volume and competency requirements for learners upon graduation at intermediate and college levels in tourism, hospitality, sports, and personal services sectors (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) issued together with Circular 55/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, college students majoring in resort management can work in the following positions:
- Front office department operator;- Housekeeping department operator;- Food and beverage service operator;- Recreation service operator;- Human resources and training department operator;- Sales and marketing;- Safety and security supervision;- Villa management;- Customer service supervision;- Landscape gardening supervision at resorts of small, medium, and large scale.

What is the college-level major in resort management in Vietnam?
According to Subsection 1, Section A, Part 8 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 55/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the field of resort management at the college level is defined as follows:
College-level resort management is the management and operation of general activities and activities in departments that directly and indirectly serve tourists, such as reception, housekeeping, restaurant, food processing, recreation, spa services, accounting, sales - marketing, human resources, meeting the level 5 requirements in the National Qualifications Framework of Vietnam.
The working environment of this occupation is mainly in resorts, with a very diverse and rich working environment in terms of space and time.
The intensity of work is not high, but there is significant pressure regarding serving time and ensuring diverse customer satisfaction.
To perform well in these duties, it is necessary to ensure working conditions such as reasonable architectural and resort site planning, landscape gardening, safety and security, suitable equipment and tools for each job, management software, good communication systems, and internal regulations on service delivery and management standards.
To undertake the job, employees must have suitable health and appearance, sufficient professional knowledge and skills that meet the job position requirements, and high autonomy and responsibility for their work.
Additionally, it is necessary to continuously study to improve foreign language communication skills, expand social knowledge, cultivate carefulness, detail, clarity, build professional consciousness, and passion.
Minimum knowledge volume: 2500 hours (equivalent to 90 credits).
What are the skill requirements for college students majoring in resort management in Vietnam after graduation?
According to Subsection 3, Section A, Part 8 of the Regulations issued together with Circular 55/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, college graduates majoring in resort management must meet the following skill requirements:
- Effective communication with customers in Vietnamese and English, suitable for serving customers at reception, housekeeping, restaurant, conference/meeting area, or recreation and spa area; effective customer care and complaint resolution;
- Developing product selling skills of the resort;
- Using resort equipment correctly and safely;
- Correctly performing customer service procedures at work positions in reception, housekeeping, restaurant, kitchen, or conference/meeting, spa, and recreation area according to the standards of each resort;
- Creating plans for departments such as marketing plan; human resources plan; purchasing plan for equipment, tools, materials, and ingredients; organizing plan for conferences, meetings, or events; calculating financial plan indicators;
- Task of recording vouchers, books according to the standards of each resort;
- Creating reports, drafting internal documents, and typical contracts of the resort;
- Applying resort management software in daily work;
- Performing cash control procedures, controlling inventory, debts, and incoming-outgoing goods;
- Executing procedures for recruiting, arranging, training employees, evaluating employee work results;
- Analyzing and assessing business results of the lodging, dining, conference, meeting, recreation, and spa departments and identifying causes to propose solutions to maximize revenue and improve business efficiency of each department and resort;
- Managing working time effectively;
- Identifying and analyzing the target market of each resort
- Using basic information technology according to regulations; exploiting, processing, and applying information technology in professional work of the field;
- Using basic foreign language proficiency, achieving level 2/6 in the Vietnam language proficiency framework, applying foreign language in the professional work of the field.
