Thought life would change from here, who knew Ly Thong would again indulge in deceit, stealing my credit and pushing me into the clutches of the law. He concocted slanderous stories, landing me in a dark prison.

In prison, I thought my life was over. But heaven never closes all doors on anyone. My magical music resonated everywhere, enchanting Princess Quynh Nga. Thanks to that, I was exonerated and trusted by the king.

Then when the 18 lord nations invaded, once again, I stood up to defend our land. I used the magical music to captivate the enemy troops, causing them to lay down their arms and retreat.

In the end, the king married me to Princess Quynh Nga, and I lived a happy life. Looking back on my life, I realize that no matter how many hardships I face, as long as I have courage and integrity, I can overcome anything.

I am An Duong Vuong, the one who established the Au Lac kingdom, built the Co Loa Citadel, and crafted the divine crossbow. Recollecting those glorious years, I can't help but feel a surge of emotions.

After defeating the Thuc army, I ascended the throne, taking the title An Duong Vuong, and set the capital at Phong Khe. I understood that to protect the country, a strong citadel was essential. Hence, I ordered my soldiers to build the citadel day and night. The Co Loa Citadel was constructed with three fortified walls, resembling a spiral, both formidable and visually striking.

Building a citadel, however, wasn't easy. Many times, the walls collapsed just after being erected. I was deeply worried, not knowing what to do. One night, I dreamt of an old man with silver hair and beard who said, "To have a strong citadel, you need the divine crossbow as support."

Upon awakening, I immediately ordered a search for the divine crossbow. Finally, I found a golden turtle living in a lake. The turtle said the divine crossbow was on the mountain. I sent men up the mountain, and they found a turtle claw. I brought this claw back for Cao Lo to craft the divine crossbow.

Cao Lo, a master craftsman, created an extremely potent divine crossbow. It could shoot hundreds of arrows at once, terrifying the enemy troops. Thanks to the divine crossbow, I defeated Trieu Da's forces, securing the borders.

But then, I made a grave mistake. I placed too much trust in the crossbow, became complacent and lost vigilance. I married my daughter My Chau to Trong Thuy, Trieu Da's son. Little did I expect Trong Thuy to be a traitor. He stole the divine crossbow and informed Trieu Da of Co Loa Citadel’s vulnerabilities.

When Trieu Da's troops attacked, I became acutely aware of my errors, but it was too late. The Co Loa Citadel fell, and I had to flee. On the run, in anger, I killed My Chau, as she unwittingly aided the enemy.

Reflecting on my life, I am filled with regret. I had achievements in nation-building and protection but made a colossal blunder. The lesson on complacency and vigilance still holds valuable today.

I am Lang Lieu, one of King Hung’s children. Unlike my siblings, I was not fond of hunting and playing but devoted myself to agriculture. One year, my father announced a contest to find the best dish for a sky-earth offering, promising the throne to whoever pleased him. My siblings all brought exotic delicacies, but as I spent my years tilling the earth, I only knew rice, sweet potatoes.

The night before the contest, I dreamt of a god who said, "Nothing in the world is more precious than rice, the sustenance of people. Use sticky rice to make round and square cakes, symbolizing the sky and earth, and wrap them in green leaves, signifying parental care."

Upon waking, I was overjoyed. I selected the finest sticky rice, plump green beans, and fresh dong leaves. I made two cakes: one square, representing earth, called chung cake; and the other round, symbolizing the sky, called day cake.

On contest day, my father and siblings were surprised to see my simple fare. But upon tasting, my father praised them greatly, stating that chung and day cakes were not only delicious but also carried deep meanings of gratitude to heaven, earth, ancestors, and parents.

My father then awarded me the throne, and from that time, chung and day cakes have become indispensable foods during our traditional Tet holiday.

I am Mai An Tiem, the adopted son of King Hung. Back then, the king favored me and granted many rare gifts. Yet I did not wish to rely on others but to build my own career.

Soon, the seeds sprouted into vines producing green round fruits. When cut open, the fruits had red flesh, black seeds, and tasted sweet and refreshing. I named this fruit watermelon.

From then on, my family survived off watermelons. I even spread the watermelon seeds across the island. The watermelons grew abundantly, sustaining my family and becoming a valuable food resource.

One day, the king sent someone to the island to investigate. Upon learning of my self-sufficiency with watermelons, the king was deeply remorseful and summoned my family and me back.

I brought watermelons back to the mainland and planted them everywhere. Watermelons became beloved by all, and my story with watermelons has been passed down through generations.
