What are the physical standards for children aged 5 in Vietnam?
Under Sub-item 1, Section 3 of the Development Standards for children aged 5 promulgated under Decision 4222/QD-BGDDT 2024, the physical standards for children aged 5 are as follows:
- Standard 1. Children possess physical strength to actively participate in activities.
+ Criterion 1. Maintain correct posture while standing, sitting, walking (without reminders);
+ Criterion 2. Regularly participate in physical activities.
- Standard 2. Children adapt to changes in physical activities and environments.
+ Criterion 3. Maintain strength during physical activities in changing environments;
+ Criterion 4. Easily engage in physical activities with new playgroups and new environments.
- Standard 3. Children have gross motor skills.
+ Criterion 5. Perform coordinated movements: walk up and down inclined surfaces, overcome obstacles; climb, move on movement models unsupported;
+ Criterion 6. Run 20 meters in 5-6 seconds;
+ Criterion 7. Collaborate with others to perform activities using equipment.

What is the age of students entering 1st grade in Vietnam?
According to Article 33 of the Primary School Charter promulgated under Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDĐT, the age of students entering 1st grade is 6. However, the entry age can be higher than the regulatory age but not exceed 3 years for children in the following categories:
- Children with disabilities or slow physical or intellectual development.
- Children in particularly disadvantaged areas.
- Ethnic minority children, children who are orphans without support.
- Children returning from abroad, children of foreigners studying or working in Vietnam.
