Required Documentation When Admitted to Vocational College in Vietnam
Based on Clause 3, Article 11 of Circular 05/2021/TT-BLDTBXH, the required documents for vocational college admission are as follows:
- The admitted candidate must submit 01 set of documents including the following papers:
[1] A certified copy of the graduation certificate or a certificate of completion of the general education program or a certificate of meeting the required amount of high school cultural knowledge or the results of the high school cultural knowledge load (depending on the applicant);
[2] A temporary high school graduation certificate for those admitted right in the year of high school graduation. When the high school diploma is available, a certified copy of the high school diploma must be submitted;
[3] A certified copy of documents proving eligibility for priority policies as prescribed;
[4] Admission notice.
*Note: Article 1 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BLDTBXH does not apply to the organization of intermediate and vocational college-level training.
Clause 2, Article 2 of Circular 05/2021/TT-BLDTBXH does not apply to institutions recruiting and training groups of teacher training disciplines and does not apply to candidates enrolling in programs linked to overseas training or studying abroad.
- Candidates who arrive more than 15 days late from the requested date in the admission notice will not be accepted by the school.
- In force majeure cases such as illness, injury, natural disaster, with confirmation from district-level hospitals or the district-level People's Committee, the school will consider accepting the candidate or preserving the admission results for the candidate to enroll in the next course.
- Admitted candidates, if retained by the locality not to go to school, have the right to appeal to competent authorities.

What is the minimum number of registered credits for vocational college courses in Vietnam?
Based on Article 29 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BLDTBXH:
Credit Registration
1. Before each semester, students must register for courses according to the school's training regulations. The number of credits registered per semester is as follows:
a) A minimum of 2/3 the average credit load per semester as per the study plan;
b) A maximum of 3/2 the average credit load per semester as per the study plan;
c) No minimum credit load is required for supplementary semesters.
2. Students are allowed to retake courses or modules, in which the final exam score is D according to Article 31 of this Circular to improve their cumulative GPA.
3. The students' credit registration per semester is recorded in the registration form kept by the school.

Thus, the minimum credit registration for vocational college courses is 2/3 of the average credit load per semester. For example, if the study plan requires three courses for that semester, students must register for at least two.
Organization of Classes for Vocational College Courses by Credit Accumulation in Vietnam
Based on Article 28 of Circular 04/2022/TT-BLDTBXH, the organization of classes for vocational college courses by credit accumulation is as follows:
- Classes are organized per course or module based on the students’ registration in each semester.
- The principal decides the minimum number of students for each theoretical and practical class, ensuring conditions for training appropriate to the actual situation, but guaranteeing that combined theoretical and practical classes do not exceed 18 students for regular vocations;
- For heavy, toxic, hazardous vocations as listed by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the maximum number of students is 10.
- Depending on actual conditions, 2 to 3 semesters including main and supplementary semesters can be organized per year.
A main semester is a compulsory semester, each having at least 15 weeks, including actual study time and examination periods.
A supplementary semester is not compulsory. During supplementary semesters, students can catch up on courses or modules delayed in the main semester, retake courses or modules not yet passed, improve scores, or take advanced courses or modules available in subsequent semesters if classes are offered.
Each supplementary semester has at least six weeks, including actual study time and examination periods.
