Conduct and Attire of lower secondary school students in Vietnam
As stipulated in Article 36 of the Charter of Lower and upper secondary schools, and General Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the conduct and attire of lower secondary school students are as follows:
- The behavior, language, and conduct of students must be proper, respectful, polite, friendly, ensuring cultural standards, suitable to the morality and lifestyle of lower secondary school students.
- Student attire must be tidy, clean, neat, appropriate for their age, convenient for study and school activities. Depending on the conditions of each school, the principal may decide for students to wear uniforms if agreed upon by the school and the School Parent Representative Board.
Prohibited acts for lower secondary school students in Vietnam
As stipulated in Article 37 of the Charter of Lower and upper secondary schools, and General Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, prohibited conduct for secondary school students includes:
- Insulting the dignity, honor, or infringing on the body of teachers, staff, other individuals, and other students.
- Cheating in learning, testing, examinations, and admissions.
- Trading, consuming alcohol, beer, tobacco, narcotics, other stimulants, and fireworks, explosives.
- Using mobile phones, other devices during class not for learning purposes and without teacher permission.
- Fighting, disturbing order and security in school and public places.
- Using, exchanging cultural products with violent, pornographic content; using toys or playing games harmful to personal healthy development.
- Violating other prohibited conducts as stipulated by law.
Duties and rights of lower secondary school students in Vietnam
* Student's Duties
As stipulated in Article 34 of the Charter of Lower and upper secondary schools, and General Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of lower secondary school students are:
- Completing learning and training tasks according to the school's educational program and plan.
- Respecting parents, teachers, staff of the school, and elders; uniting and helping each other in learning and training; adhering to school rules and regulations; complying with national laws.
- Exercising, maintaining personal hygiene.
- Participating in collective activities of the school, class, Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; helping family, participating in labor and social activities, environmental protection activities, and following traffic safety regulations.
- Maintaining and protecting school property and public property; contributing to building and promoting the school's traditions.
* Student's Rights
As stipulated in Article 35 of the Charter of Lower and upper secondary schools, and General Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the rights of lower secondary school students are:
- Enjoying equal access to comprehensive education, ensuring conditions such as time, facilities, hygiene, and safety for in-class and self-study at home, receiving information about their learning and training, using equipment and facilities for school learning, cultural, and sports activities as regulated.
- Being respected and protected, treated equally and democratically, having the right to complain to the school and educational management levels about decisions concerning themselves; having the right to transfer schools for legitimate reasons as stipulated; studying ahead of schedule, skipping grades, studying at an older age as stipulated in Article 33 of the Charter of Lower and upper secondary schools, and General Schools issued together with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT.
- Participating in activities to develop talents in subjects, sports, and arts organized by the school if eligible.
- Receiving scholarships or other grants according to policies for social policy students, students with difficult living conditions, and students with special talents.
- Transferring schools if meeting conditions as stipulated; transfer procedures follow regulations of the Minister of Education and Training.
- Enjoying other rights as stipulated by law.
