d) Students who achieve national and international awards in culture, arts, sports; National scientific and technical competitions for secondary and upper secondary school students.

Therefore, provincial level excellent grade 9 students are not eligible for direct admission to upper secondary schools.

  1. The age of lower secondary school and upper secondary school students is implemented according to the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools and General Educational Institutions with multiple educational levels.

Based on Article 33 of the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools and General Educational Institutions with multiple educational levels issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, regulations regarding the age of upper secondary school students are as follows:

Age of Upper Secondary School Students

1. The age for entering grade 6 is 11 years old. The age for entering grade 10 is 15 years old. For students who skip grades in the previous level or students entering the level at an older age than the prescribed age, the age for grade 6 and 10 is reduced or increased based on the age of the year they graduated from the previous level.

  1. Ethnic minority students, disabled students, students in particularly difficult circumstances, students returning from abroad can enter levels at an age higher than 03 years compared to the prescribed age.
  1. Students are not allowed to repeat a grade more than 03 times in one educational level.
  1. Students with good physical condition and early intellectual development can enter school before age or skip grades within the educational level. Consideration for each specific case is done through the following steps:

a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.

b) The principal establishes a survey and consultation council consisting of key components: representative of the school leadership and the Parent Teacher Association; the teacher of the class the student is attending.

c) Based on the survey results of the consultation council, the principal considers and decides.

  1. Students within the prescribed age returning from abroad, children of foreigners working in Vietnam are allowed to study at upper secondary schools at the place of residence or upper secondary schools outside the place of residence if the school can accept them. Consideration for each specific case is done through the following steps:

a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.

b) The principal organizes a survey of the student's level and places them in a suitable class.

Therefore, the age to take the entrance exam for grade 10 is 15 years old.

For students who skip grades in the previous level or students entering the level at an older age than the prescribed age, the age for entering grade 10 is reduced or increased based on the age of the year they graduated from the previous level.

Ethnic minority students, disabled students, students in particularly difficult circumstances, and students returning from abroad can enter grade 10 at an age higher than 3 years compared to the prescribed age.

What are the responsibilities of students entering grade 10 in Vietnam?

Based on Article 34 of the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools and General Educational Institutions with multiple educational levels issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities of students entering grade 10 are as follows:

- Fulfill the duties of study and training according to the school's education program and plan.

- Respect parents, school staff, teachers, and elders; unite and help each other in studying and training; comply with the school's regulations and rules; abide by state laws.

- Train physical health and maintain personal hygiene.

- Participate in collective activities of the school, class, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; assist the family, participate in labor and social activities, environmental protection activities, and traffic safety.

- Preserve and protect the school's property and public places; contribute to building, protecting, and promoting the school's traditions.
