Vietnam Association for Mechanics is a socio-professional organization of Vietnamese citizens and organizations operating in the field of mechanics or related to the field of mechanics in accordance with the law for the purpose of gathering and uniting members, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the Association, and members helping each other to operate effectively, serving the cause of industrialization and modernization, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Specifically, in Clause 2, Article 8 of the Charter issued together with Decision 469/QD-BNV in 2023, the standards for official members of the Vietnam Association for Mechanics are as follows:
Criteria for official membership: The conditions to be admitted as members of the Vietnam Association for Mechanics are:
- For individuals: Vietnamese citizens who are 18 years old or older, have full civil act capacity, are not prosecuted for penal liability, operate in the field of mechanics or are related to the field of mechanics as prescribed by law, have conditions to participate in the regular activities of the Association, and have an application to join the Association (according to the form prescribed by the Association).
- For organizations:
Organizations with legal status established in accordance with the law of Vietnam operating in the field of mechanics or related to the field of mechanics in accordance with the law (except for enterprises with foreign elements specified at Point b, Clause 1, Article 8 of the Charter issued together with Decision 469/QD-BNV in 2023) are eligible to participate in the regular activities of the Association;
Having an application to join the Association (made according to the form prescribed by the Association) enclosed with a copy of the establishment license, establishment decision, or business registration certificate and a written appointment of a representative.
An organization that appoints a representative who is a Vietnamese citizen to join the Association must have a person who is competent to decide on issues related to the operation of their unit and the rights and obligations of members.
In case of authorization, the authorized person must have full decision-making authority and take responsibility for their decision. When a member organizes to change their representative, they must notify the Association in writing, no later than 15 (fifteen) working days from the date of change.
Members of the Vietnam Association for Mechanics have the following rights:
- To have their legitimate rights and interests protected by the Association in accordance with the law.
- To be provided with information related to the Association's activities by the Association, to participate in activities organized by the Association in accordance with the law and the Association's Charter.
- To participate in discussions and decide on the Association's working policies according to the Association's regulations; to propose and give opinions to the competent authority on issues related to the field of operation of the Association in accordance with the law.
- To attend the General Meeting, stand for election, nominate, and elect the Executive Board and the Inspection Committee in accordance with the Association's regulations.
- To be allowed to introduce new members.
- To be rewarded according to the regulations of the Association.
- To receive a member card (if any).
- To leave the Association upon wanting
- Associate members and honorary members shall have the same rights and obligations as full members, except for the right to vote on matters of the Association and the right to stand for election, nominate, and elect the Executive Committee and the Association's Inspection Committee.

Members of the Vietnam Association for Mechanics are responsible for performing the following obligations:
- To strictly abide by the guidelines and lines of the Party, policies, and laws of the State; to abide by the Association's charter and regulations.
- To participate in the activities of the Association; unite and cooperate with other members to build a strong association.
- To protect the reputation of the Association, not on behalf of the Association in transaction relations, unless assigned in writing by the President, Standing committee, and Executive Board.
- To implement the information and reporting regime in accordance with the Association's regulations.
- To pay membership fees in full and on time according to the Association's regulations.
- Other obligations as prescribed by law.
