Vietnam: Regime of remuneration for military sports coaches and athletes

The salary regime for military sports coaches and athletes is guided in Circular 138/2016/TT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam as follows:

- Coaches and athletes of military sports teams who do not receive salaries from the state budget shall be paid daily wages according to levels 1, 2, 3;

- Coaches and athletes who are officers, professional soldiers, workers, and public defense employees shall be paid wages as follows:

+ Receive full salary (including rank/pay grade and allowances) paid by the managing agency of the coaches and athletes;

+ If the daily salary of coaches and athletes is lower than the daily wage level according to levels 1, 2, 3, the employing agency of the coaches and athletes shall pay the difference.

+ If the actual number of training and competition days exceeds the standard working days in a month (22 days), the employing agency of the coaches and athletes shall pay wages at the level defined by levels 1, 2, 3 for the days exceeding the standard working days in the month;

- Coaches and athletes who are non-commissioned officers and soldiers shall be paid a living allowance by the management agency.

Circular 138/2016/TT-BQP of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam is effective from October 27, 2016, replacing Circular 155/2007/TT-BQP.
