Official: Law amending Law on Security Guard Force 2024 available in Vietnam 

The Law Amending the Law on Security Guard Force in 2024 will amend and supplement several articles of the Law on Security Guard Force 2017.

Notably, Article 11a has been added following Article 11 of the Law on Security Guard Force 2017, stipulating guard measures for key leaders, senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front as follows:

- For the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the Chairman of the National Assembly, and the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam:

+ Close protection;

+ Armed patrol and guarding of residence, workplace, and activity locations;

+ Security and safety check of residence, workplace, activity locations, belongings, items, and means of transportation;

+ Food and drink testing before use;

+ Organizing surveys and obtaining information to develop and implement protection plans;

+ Use of badges and insignia;

+ Application of scientific and technological measures, use of modern technical means and equipment;

+ Other professional measures as prescribed by the Law on National Security and the Law on the People's Public Security.

- For former General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Presidents, former Chairmen of the National Assembly, and former Prime Ministers of the Government of Vietnam:

+ Close protection;

+ Armed patrol and guarding of residence.

- For those holding positions as Permanent Members of the Secretariat, and Politburo Members:

+ Close protection;

+ Armed patrol and guarding of residence and workplace;

+ Organizing surveys and obtaining information to develop and implement protection plans when necessary;

+ Use of badges and insignia;

+ Application of scientific and technological measures, use of modern technical means and equipment;

+ Other professional measures as prescribed by the Law on National Security and the Law on the People's Public Security.

- For Members of the Secretariat, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Procurator General of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Vice Presidents, the Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, and the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Government of Vietnam:

+ Close protection;

+ Organizing surveys and obtaining information to develop and implement protection plans when necessary;

+ Use of badges and insignia;

+ Application of scientific and technological measures, use of modern technical means and equipment;

+ Other professional measures as prescribed by the Law on National Security and the Law on the People's Public Security.

- Enhancing forces, means, and protection measures for guarded subjects when the political security, public order, and social safety situation is complex.

- The Minister of Public Security shall detail the guard measures stipulated in this Article.

More details can be found in the Law Amending the Law on Security Guard Force in 2024, which will take effect in Vietnam from January 1, 2025.
