New Guidelines on the Templates and Codes for Social Insurance Books and Health Insurance Cards

On August 8, 2017, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) issued Official Dispatch 3340/BHXH-ST regarding the issuance of social insurance books and health insurance cards based on social insurance numbers.

Vietnam Social Security has provided some guidelines regarding the issuance of Social Insurance books (SI books) and Health Insurance cards (HI cards) as follows:

- Regarding the templates and codes of SI books:- Replace the phrase "Book Number:" printed on the cover and detached sheets of the SI book with the phrase "Code:";- New SI books issued or reissued will follow the new template from August 1, 2017.- Regarding the templates and codes of HI cards:- Replace the word "Number:" printed on the HI card with the phrase "Code:";- Validity of HI cards: Only print “Usage value: From date…/…/…”;- New HI cards issued, exchanged, or reissued will follow the new template from August 1, 2017.- For SI books and HI cards that have been issued but not yet exchanged or reissued according to the new template, they will remain valid until they are exchanged or reissued.
