Library Law 2019: Organization of the library network from July 01, 2020

Recently, the 14th National Assembly passed the Library Law No. 46/2019/QH14 at its 8th session on November 21, 2019.

The library network is organized according to the model of public libraries, funded by the State, ensuring operational conditions and ownership representation, organized on the model of a public service provider, or non-public libraries, organized by organizations or individuals, operating on the enterprise model and including the following types:

- National Library of Vietnam;- Public Library;- Specialized Library;- People's Armed Forces Library;- University Educational Institution Library (University Library);- Preschool, General Education Institution, Vocational Education Institution Libraries and other Educational Institution Libraries;- Community Libraries and Private Libraries serving the community;- Libraries of foreign organizations or individuals serving Vietnamese people.

Details can be found in the Library Law 2019 effective from July 1, 2020. Library Ordinance 31/2000/PL-UBTVQH10 will cease to be effective as of the date this Law takes effect.
