Prohibition on Employing Female Workers in Heavy Labor

This is the regulation mentioned in the Ordinance on Labor Protection 1991 promulgated by the State Council on September 19, 1991.

Ordinance on Prohibiting the Use of Female Labor for Tasks Adversely Affecting Reproductive and Childcare Functions

The ordinance strictly prohibits the use of female labor for tasks that adversely affect reproductive and childcare functions, such as:

- Heavy, hazardous work;- Work involving direct exposure to toxic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, rodenticides.

According to the ordinance, when arranging labor, it is necessary to base the assignments on health standards prescribed for each type of job. Employees must undergo a health examination before employment and periodic health check-ups according to the regulatory policies.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs shall prescribe the list of jobs that are prohibited for female labor and individuals under 18 years of age.

Ordinance on Labor Protection 1991 takes effect from January 01, 1992.
