Organization of the Border Guard according to the Ordinance on Border Guard 1997 of Vietnam

According to the Ordinance on Border Guard 1997 of Vietnam, the organization of the Border Guard shall be stipulated by the Government. The personnel, equipment, organization and specific tasks of the Border Guard agencies and units shall be defined by the Minister of Defense.

According to the Ordinance on Border Guard 1997 of Vietnam, the Border Guard is composed of officers, professional army men, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense workers and public employees.

The appointment, dismissal, nomination, promotion, demotion and stripping of titles and ranks of the Border Guard shall be done as follows:

- For officers, the Law on the Officers of the Vietnam People’s Army shall apply;

- For professional army men, non-commissioned officers and soldiers, the Law on Military Service Duties shall apply;

- For defense workers and public employees, the provisions of the relevant law shall apply.

The service duty regime of the Border Guard officers, professional army men, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense workers and public employees shall comply with the legal documents governing the Vietnam People’s Army and other relevant legal documents.

The military flag, signals, ranks, badges, pennants, arm-bands, duty plates, uniform and identity cards of the officers, professional army men, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, defense workers and public employees in the Border Guard shall be stipulated by the Government at the proposal of the Minister of Defense.

This is the contents specified in Chapter 3 of the Ordinance on Border Guard 1997 of Vietnam, effective from April 07, 1997.
