This is the main content of the Scheme just approved by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam under Decision No. 939/QD-TTg dated June 30, 2017.
Scheme “Supporting Women Startups for the Period 2017 - 2025” aims at women, including those who have startup ideas, need to start businesses, cooperatives/unions, newly established enterprises owned by women. Priority is given to women from poor households, ethnic minority women, women with disabilities, women living in difficult areas, and women in agricultural land transitioning areas.
With the objective of raising awareness among women about the policies and laws of the Communist Party and the State on startups, promoting the realization of business ideas, contributing to the national goal of enterprise development and the National Strategy on Gender Equality, the Prime Minister has approved the following objectives to be achieved by 2025:
- 90% of professional Women's Union officers at all levels participating in the implementation of the Scheme will have their awareness and methods of supporting women startups and business development enhanced;- 70% of Women's Union members will be informed and have their awareness raised concerning employment and startups;- Support 20,000 women in starting businesses and startups;- Support the establishment of 1,200 cooperatives/unions managed by women;- Provide consultation and support for the development of 100,000 newly established enterprises owned by women.
Alongside these objectives, the following key tasks and solutions will be implemented:
- Develop a section on women startups on the Women's Union's electronic information portal and the Vietnam Women's Newspaper;- Organize Women Startup Day at various levels of the Women's Union;- Pilot propaganda models in communities in 10 representative provinces and summarize to draw experiences;- Enhance the capacity of newly established women-owned enterprises;- Research and propose policies, and monitor the implementation of lawful policies supporting women startups and business development.
