Requirements for Professional Activities of the Department of Microbiology

Circular 33/2016/TT-BYT was issued by the Ministry of Health on September 19, 2016, detailing specific requirements regarding the professional activities of the Microbiology Department.

Circular 33 stipulates that the microbiology department should be arranged separately or within the testing area, convenient for professional activities, ensuring the following requirements:

- Arrange the department's rooms in a consecutive, one-way, and reasonable manner to ensure professional work and biological safety, avoiding cross-infection;- Have a place to receive samples and a place for disinfection;- Ensure that the restrooms and shower rooms have sufficient clean and hot water for staff to conduct sanitation and disinfection before leaving;- Have a dedicated area to receive and conduct urgent tests.

Moreover, Circular 33 also requires that the design and construction of the testing rooms must meet the standards for biological safety in laboratories as stipulated.
