Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Official Dispatch 2698/BCT-DTDL to the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and centrally managed cities, and to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) regarding the support for reducing electricity prices and electricity bills for customers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

There will be various beneficiaries of reduced electricity prices and electricity bill support, specifically as follows:
1. Reduction in electricity prices for the following beneficiaries:
- Retail electricity prices for production and business sectors: Reduced by 10% based on the retail price stipulated in Decision 648/QD-BCT.
- Retail electricity prices for residential customers: Reduced by 10% for electricity consumption from Level 1 to Level 4 as stipulated in Decision 648/QD-BCT.
- Customers who are tourism accommodation facilities: Retail electricity prices for business reduced to be equal to the retail electricity price for the production sector after the reduction.
- For rural wholesale electricity prices; wholesale electricity prices for collective residential areas, clusters; wholesale electricity prices for commercial-service-residential complexes: Reduced by 10% for Levels 1 to 4 of residential prices; Reduced by 10% for other wholesale electricity purposes as per Decision 648/QD-BCT.
- For wholesale electricity prices for industrial zones and market wholesale electricity prices: Reduced by 10% compared to the wholesale price table in Decision 648/QD-BCT.
2. Reduction in electricity bills (pre-tax value) for Covid-19 prevention and control facilities purchasing electricity from EVN as follows:
- A 100% reduction in electricity bills for facilities (not hotels) used for quarantine, centrally treating suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients.
- A 20% reduction in electricity bills for medical facilities used for examination, testing, and treatment of suspected and confirmed Covid-19 patients.
- A 20% reduction in electricity bills for hotels used to quarantine suspected Covid-19 patients.
The list of Covid-19 prevention and control facilities eligible for electricity bill reduction is prepared monthly by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, and the People's Committees of provinces and centrally governed cities for electricity units to implement.
