Vietnam: Discharge of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures shall be fined up to VND 8 million

Decree No. 104/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government stipulates penalties for administrative violations against regulations on disaster preparedness, operation and protection of hydraulic structures and flood control systems.

According to Decree No. 104/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government, penalties for discharge of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures are as follows:

- A warning shall be imposed for discharging a volume of less than 0.5m3 of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures;

- A fine ranging from VND 300,000 to VND 500,000 shall be imposed for discharging a volume ranging from 0.5m3 to under 1 m3 of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures;

- A fine ranging from VND 1,000,000 to VND 2,000,000 shall be imposed for discharging a volume ranging from 01m3 to under 03 m3 of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures;

- A fine ranging from VND 2,000,000 to VND 4,000,000 shall be imposed for discharging a volume ranging from 03m3 to under 05m3of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures;

- A fine ranging from VND 4,000,000 to VND 8,000,000 shall be imposed for discharging a volume of 05m3 or more of garbage or waste into hydraulic structures.

Decree No. 104/2017/NĐ-CP of Vietnam’s Government takes effect from November 01, 2017.
