Requirements for Ramps in Car Garages

The Ministry of Construction has signed and promulgated Circular No. 12/2018/TT-BXD issuing the National Technical Regulation on Car Garages, code QCVN 13:2018/BXD.

The slopes in car garages must satisfy the following requirements:

- The longitudinal slope of straight, covered ramps along the axis of the driving lane must not exceed 18%; the longitudinal slope of curved ramps must not exceed 13%; the longitudinal slope of open ramps must not exceed 10%.- The cross slope of ramps must not exceed 6%;- In ramps that pedestrians use, the sidewalk must be at least 0.8 m wide.

According to Circular 12/2018/TT-BXD, car garages must also meet the following conditions:

- The inclined floors between levels must not exceed a slope of 6%.- Car garages used for storing cars powered by liquefied gas or compressed natural gas must meet additional requirements for rooms, buildings, and constructions as per separate regulations.

Circular 12/2018/TT-BXD is effective from March 15, 2019.
