Requirements for Individuals Attaining Level 6 Japanese Proficiency in Vietnam

According to Circular 34, the Foreign Language Competency Framework (Japanese) includes 6 levels in ascending order used in Vietnam. Specifically, an individual who achieves the highest level (Level 6) must meet the following skill requirements:

Listening:

- Follow and understand lectures or specialized presentations that use many colloquial expressions, contain cultural elements, or unfamiliar terms.- Understand nuanced, complex, or controversial issues such as law, finance, even potentially reaching an expert level of understanding.- Comprehend everything with ease at the speaking pace of a native speaker.- …

Speaking:

- Accurately convey subtle nuances of meaning using various forms of modifiers with high precision.- Clearly, detailedly, and fluently describe to make it easy for the listener to understand and remember.- Confidently and articulately present a complex topic to an unfamiliar audience by using structure and flexibly adjusting the conversation according to the listener's needs.- Use idioms, colloquial expressions, and be aware of figurative meanings.- …

Reading:

- Critically understand, select, and use most types of texts, including abstract, structurally complex texts, or literary and non-literary works.- Understand a wide range of long and complex texts, sensing subtle differences between styles, literal and figurative meanings.- Quickly skim lengthy and complex texts to locate useful information.- …

Writing:

- Summarize information from various sources, reason and provide evidence to coherently present an issue.- Write clearly, fluently, cohesively with detailed and appropriate style and logical structure, allowing the reader to grasp the important points of the writing.- Write descriptive essays about experiences and stories in a clear, articulate, rich, and engaging manner, with a style appropriate to the chosen genre.- …
