This procedure is stipulated in Circular 29/2016/TT-BTNMT, which was issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on October 12, 2016.
Circular 29 provides regulations on determining sea level rise due to wave run-up (Hsl) to be implemented in the following sequence:
- Determine the nearshore wave data series based on the results of wave characteristics assessment and policies;- Calculate the wave run-up values corresponding to the identified nearshore wave data series;- Based on the calculated wave run-up values series, apply statistical methods to calculate the wave run-up values corresponding to the 2% frequency.
Additionally, Circular 29 also regulates the calculation of wave run-up values according to the following sequence:
- Use semi-empirical formulas to calculate wave run-up values;- Conduct field measurement of wave run-up;- Choose the most suitable results for the area conditions based on evaluating the correlation level between the calculated values according to semi-empirical formulas and the measured wave run-up values in the field.
For more details, see Circular 29/2016/TT-BTNMT, effective from November 28, 2016.
