Mobile Library Activities

Circular 33/2018/TT-BVHTTDL was issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism on October 15, 2018 to specifically list the activities of mobile libraries.

Circular 33 stipulates mobile library activities including:

- Selection and supplementation of materials. This includes activities:

- Surveying the needs of users in the area, prioritizing materials for the development of the local economy, culture, and society, materials for children, the elderly, the disabled, and materials for ethnic minorities;- Supplementing materials through purchases, exchanges, and donations;- Ensuring there are at least 03 copies or more of each book title and not belonging to the category of rare and valuable materials of the library.

- Processing materials and organizing the search system as per regulations.

- Providing library services

The provision of library services as stipulated in Circular 33 includes the following activities:

- Organizing reading spaces, providing information, and reading materials on-site;- Advising on the use of the library's resources upon users' requests;- Public access to computers and the internet;- Organizing reading promotion activities;- Other services in accordance with the library's functions and duties as per the law.

- Communication and advocacy include:

- Developing plans and organizing communication and advocacy activities associated with national, local events, and other library events according to the law;- Guiding methods for reading and information searching;- Displaying, exhibiting books, organizing book and reading culture festivals, book-related contests, and other cultural activities;- Promoting the library and its services to attract users.

- Finally, summarizing and evaluating activities include the following:

- Inventorying, and statistics of damaged or lost materials to devise restoration plans, and filtering materials according to regulations. Damaged materials that cannot be restored or are lost will be listed in the library's filtering proposal as per the law;- Performing statistics and evaluating service efficiency, including the number of users served, the number of materials provided, and other indicators.
