This is noteworthy information stipulated in Circular 17/2019/TT-BYT guiding the surveillance and response to communicable diseases and epidemics.
When there is an outbreak or infectious disease, the units responsible for responding within the assigned administrative management area are to develop an epidemic prevention plan, prepare, and carry out the handling of outbreaks and infectious diseases.
To be specific: Circular 17/2019/TT-BYT stipulates that based on the results of the investigation of the outbreak and infectious disease, the following measures may be selected and applied to handle the outbreak and infectious disease:
- Handling the source of infection: receiving, treating, and managing cases of disease; medical isolation, enforced medical isolation; treating healthy carriers of infectious diseases; handling waste from humans, animals, and other sources of infection;- Handling the route of transmission: implementing measures to prevent the spread of intermediates transmitting the disease; environmental sanitation, disinfecting and decontaminating the outbreak area and the epidemic zone;- Protecting healthy individuals in the community and those exposed in hospitals: sanitation, personal protective equipment; ensuring food safety; preventive treatment and enhancing the body's resistance; vaccination; risk communication and public health education;- Applying specific epidemic prevention measures during the outbreak period according to current regulations;- Epidemiological investigation and handling deaths due to infectious diseases.
