On October 28, 2014, the Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA on the management, preservation, and maintenance of firefighting and fire prevention equipment.
Preservation and Maintenance of Firefighting and Fire Prevention Equipment After Firefighting, Fire Drills (Illustrative image)
In Article 13 Circular 52/2014/TT-BCA stipulates the preservation and maintenance of firefighting and fire prevention equipment after firefighting and fire drills as follows:
- Open all water spray valves, valves under the pump to discharge all excess water in the centrifugal pump;- Fill the fire water tank with clean water;- Check coupling parts, brakes, gearbox, power take-off box, steering, drive shafts, front axle, rear axle, tire surface, and tire pressure, etc;- Inspect the exterior of the vehicle, tighten wheel bolts, lug nuts, hubs, etc;- Check lubricants, hydraulic oil, coolant, fuel to ensure no leakage; refill oil, water, and fuel according to specified standards;- Inspect the tension of fan belts, air compressor fan belts, battery condition, lights, horn;- Assess the technical condition of nozzles, spray hoses, suction hoses, water filter baskets, ladders, masks, and clean all equipment and tools, placing them in proper order in the vehicle compartment;- Clean the exterior of the vehicle, beneath the chassis, clean the pump, engine, driver’s cab, firefighter’s cab, cabin windows, gauges, lights, etc;- Wash firefighting clothing, hoses, and dry them.
Note: In cases where firefighting vehicles use saltwater, dirty water, or firefighting foam, all parts and equipment must be cleaned and washed after firefighting or fire drills, such as nozzles, hoses, foam tank valves, foam piping systems, centrifugal pumps, fan blades, and pump shaft seals with clean water.
