Khanh Hoa will become a centrally run city in 2030 in Vietnam which is specified in Decision 318/QĐ-TTg dated March 29, 2023 issued by the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister issued Decision 318/QD-TTg dated March 29, 2023, approving the Planning of Khanh Hoa province for the period 2021–2030, with a vision to 2050.

Khanh Hoa will become a centrally run city in 2030 in Vietnam

Specifically, according to Decision 318/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister set the following goals for Khanh Hoa province by 2030:

- By 2030, Khanh Hoa will become a centrally run city; international marine tourism and service center; a growth pole, and the center of the Central Coast region, the Central Highlands, and the whole country in terms of marine economy, high-tech industry, science and technology, innovation, human resource training, and high-quality health care services.

- GRDP per capita strives to be in the group of 15 highest provinces and cities in the country. Infrastructure is invested synchronously and modernly.

- The urban system develops towards modernity, smartness, sustainability, and rich identity in a number of international-class urban areas.

- People enjoy a high, peaceful, and happy standard of living.

- Ecosystems and natural landscapes are protected; have the capacity to adapt to climate change.

- National defense, security, and sovereignty of the sea and islands are firmly guaranteed.

Besides, with a vision to 2050, Khanh Hoa will be a major marine economic center of the country; it is a smart city, environmentally friendly, unique, and on par with the Asian region; it strives to become one of Asia's leading coastal cities that attracts tourists and has a livable environment with a synchronous, modern infrastructure system.

Development breakthroughs in Khanh Hoa province of Vietnam in the period 2021–2030, vision to 2050

According to Decision 318/QD-TTg, to ensure future development, Khanh Hoa province needs to create the following breakthroughs:

- Create breakthroughs in administrative reform, improve the business investment environment, and well-implement specific policy mechanisms issued by the National Assembly to mobilize and effectively use all resources inside and outside the province for socio-economic development, especially for breakthrough development of 03 key regions—the driving force for development of the province—Van Phong Bay Area, Nha Trang City, and Cam Ranh Bay Area.

- Create a breakthrough in human resource development, especially high-quality human resources, especially for important industries such as tourism, processing industry, manufacturing, logistics services, seaports, fisheries and fisheries logistics, and information technology.

- Strengthen research and application of science and technology, especially in areas serving marine economic development such as oceanography, ocean technology, aquatic breed production technology, seafood farming and processing technology, vaccines and medical biological products, technology application in tourism services, etc.

Strongly promote innovation and entrepreneurship, especially creative startups.

- Increase investment, mobilization, and effective use of all resources in society to create breakthroughs in building a synchronous and modern socio-economic infrastructure system; The focus is on key, pervasive projects, especially transport infrastructure, economic zone infrastructure, industrial parks, urban infrastructure, seaports, airports, and effective adaptation to climate change.

Focus on developing information and telecommunications infrastructure, building and developing provincial databases in sync with the national data infrastructure,
create a digital transformation platform and gradually develop the digital economy and digital society in the province.
