On February 10, 2019, Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs stipulating the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at the intermediate level and college level in fields of materials, metallurgy, production, and other technical technology sectors will take effect.

According to the regulation on the minimum amount of knowledge and competency requirements that learners must achieve upon graduation at intermediate and advanced levels in the field of ship hull manufacturing technology, issued together with Circular 46/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the advanced diploma in ship hull manufacturing technology is a profession in the group of mechanical processing sectors within the shipbuilding domain. The work involves technical technology tasks or direct technical labor in positions such as processing, assembling, launching, and commissioning of ships, as well as technical staff, meeting Level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese National Qualifications Framework.

The primary tasks of this field are performed mainly in enterprises, shipbuilding and repair companies, mechanical and ship mechanical manufacturing businesses, under working conditions and environments in workshops and outside shipyards. The main materials used include such as: steel plates, steel shapes, welding rods, and welding materials..., all requiring high technical standards in a work environment with industrial noise and dust. The job intensity is high, following the schedule and volume of products. The main equipment and tools used in this profession include: plate cutting machines, bending machines, presses, welding machines, crane equipment, lifting equipment, segment transport means, metal cutting equipment using gas mixtures or Plasma, marking tools, processing tools, inspection tools, assembly tools, and various types of safety equipment and tools.

This field plays an important role in achieving the national economic, social, and defense security goals in maritime, island, and inland waters of the country. It produces increasingly high-quality, diverse types of ships that meet effective, safe, and aesthetically pleasing operational requirements according to international standards, in a modern scientific and technological development condition with high competition among countries worldwide.

To practice this profession, workers must have good health, knowledge, skills in Ship Hull Manufacturing Technology, and good professional ethics and manners.

The minimum amount of knowledge required is 2,360 hours (equivalent to 80 credits).
