The accounting account system specified in Circular 133/2016/TT-BTC (applicable to small and medium-sized enterprises) and Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC (large enterprises) has many differences. Below is a comparison table of the accounting accounts specified in the two Circulars of Vietnam.

Details of the Comparison Table may be found in Circular 133 and Circular 200.

Small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam may apply the Enterprise Accounting Policies issued under Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC and certain amended, supplemented, or replacement documents, but they must notify the supervisory tax authority and consistently implement it within the financial year. After applying the Enterprise Accounting Policies issued under Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC, if they wish to apply accounting policies for small and medium enterprises under Circular 133, they must apply it from the beginning of the financial year and notify the tax authority.

Circular 133/2016/TT-BTC comes into effect for the financial year beginning on or after January 01, 2017. Any regulations contrary to Circular 133 are annulled. Circular 133/2016 replaces Decision 48/2006/QD-BTC and Circular 138/2011/TT-BTC.
