Recently, the Minister of Health of Vietnam issued Circular 16/2020/TT-BYT on standards and guidelines for awarding the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Prize in the field of traditional medicine and pharmacy.

According to Circular 16/2020/TT-BYT, the fund sources for consideration of the Hai Thuong Lan Ong Award in Vietnam are regulated as follows:
1. Source of funds
- Funds for organizing the award consideration, the Award Ceremony, and related publicity activities shall be derived from the State budget, mobilized private investments, and contributions from domestic and international organizations and individuals.
- No fees shall be collected from individuals and groups being nominated for the award in any form.
2. Principles for fund use
- Funds for organizing the award consideration, the Award Ceremony, and related publicity activities shall be established and utilized in accordance with current regulations.
- The Department of Management of Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy - the Secretariat of the Ministry of Health's Council is responsible for establishing, mobilizing, managing, and utilizing the award funds in conformity with legal provisions and regulations specified in this Circular.
3. Expense contents for organizing, publicizing, and considering the award
- Developing and implementing the Council's selection plan.
- Appraising nomination dossiers.
- Organizing Council meetings.
- Announcing selection information in the mass media.
- Publicizing the award.
- Holding press conferences about the selection results.
- Organizing the Award Ceremony.
- Printing and copying documents for selection; Certificate of Recognition; Certificate frames; Award badges.
- Other activities as stipulated by law.
