Forms of Funeral Organization in the Military

Circular 86/2016/TT-BQP was issued by the Ministry of National Defense on June 20, 2016, specifying the forms of funeral organization in the military.

Circular 86 stipulates the forms of funeral organization, including:

- State-level funerals;- High-level funerals;- Military funerals for officers ranked from Colonel downwards;- Funerals for defense workers and public employees.

Additionally, Circular 86 also prescribes the rituals for organizing funerals as follows:

- Funeral organization rituals include: the sequence of performing the funeral, organizing forces and means to serve the funeral.- Funeral organization rituals in the Army are implemented for:

- Martyrs and deceased persons regulated in Clause 1, Article 2 of Circular 86, funerals are to be held at the military hospital funeral home or at the agency or unit;- Generals (including those retired) who die have their funerals organized at the family residence, adjusted according to the military funeral organization rituals;- Martyrs and deceased persons ranked from Colonel downwards, when funerals are held at the family residence, do not follow the military funeral rituals.
